CANS HISTORIAN
The Board of Directors decided this year that a historian was needed for the organization who would be responsible for providing information about how CANS has evolved and how CANS has influenced many issues over the years. The historian should be someone who is knowledgeable about CANS’ activities and accomplishments; maintains institutional memory; and can preserve history and pass on relevant information. This person will be a non-voting member of the Board appointed by the president. The following statement will become CANS’ policy: The historian shall preserve the archives of the Association and shall, from time to time, prepare a report on request of the Executive Committee. He/she shall serve for a period of three years, subject to reappointment, with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms.
Dr. Donald Prolo, past president and currently a consultant to the Board of Directors, was selected to serve as CANS’ historian. He started his role as Historian at the beginning of 2014. He will present some historical items of interest that have affected California neurosurgeons during CANS’ 42 years of existence.
